They are the symbol of health and sexiness that many women look for in a man. Ripped abs are a huge turn-on for women, and so is the healthy, confident attitude they convey.

It is true that anyone can get the firm abdomen they crave. It is also true that a positive mindset, determined to commit to healthy living, is often the difference between success and failure. Optimism is the cure for those negative thoughts and feelings that can block you and keep you from following through. Anything is possible with the right attitude.

Focusing on your goal is also an important factor in obtaining the ripped abs and other body shaping goals you may have. Write your goals down, and share them with family and friends. That way, they will understand that your are making a commitment to a healthier life and not try to lead you into temptation. They can offer support too. Perhaps they have tried to get in shape too, and will use your stated plan of action as the impetus to get back to goals of their own.

You can give each other positive messages, and create some playful competition.

Set specific goals to give yourself benchmarks as you get in shape. For instance, decide to add five pounds more weight to your weight training each week, or do two more leg presses each day. Measure your biceps, abs and thighs each week, so you can see how your hard work is paying off.

Being able to see that progress is happening can keep you from giving up, and subtly remind you of the need to stay positive. No one got ripped abs overnight; chart your progress and give yourself mini-goals that you can check off.
